THE Aussie sisters who were flown to LA by Ellen Degeneres have told of their excitement and shared photos after hitting the set of the US chat show.

Carly Heading, who has gone to LA with her sister Briony, has told her friends on Twitter of her joy after reaching the set of The Ellen Show.

Today, she tweeted about how she was struggling to "process" the experience of winning the chance to go and see Ellen in LA.

"I can't even process life ATM," she tweeted.

She thanked the show's executive producer Andy, Jeannie Klisiewicz, who chose her in Sydney and the Ellen Show for giving her a birthday present she will never forget.

"@andylassner @jeannieeeee @TheEllenShow thankyou for the most amazing birthday and the most amazing day of my life!"

She also thanked Qantas and Swisse.

"@QantasAirways @SwisseAU @TheEllenShow words can't describe how thankful and amazed I am thankyou from the bottom of my heart."

Her sister Briony tweeted a photo of them, saying: "OMG what an amazing day!! Seriously speechless right now!! Cant thank everyone at @TheEllenShow enough!!"

Carly also thanked Qantas, after they gave them the one thing they forgot in their suitcase - pyjamas.

"@QantasAirways ahh thankyou for our pjs that we didn't pack!! #lifesaver @brionyheading," she tweeted.

Earlier today, Carly tweeted about being in one of the dressing rooms at The Ellen Show.

"Casually just sitting in the same dressing room at Ellen that Taylor Swift was in. Casually trying not to have a heart attack."

Later this afternoon she tweeted three simple words to sum up the once in a lifetime experience: "Can't stop smiling".

Carly has taken her sister Briony with her after Carly's other friend Jennifer Kenyon, who originally won the ticket with her, was unable to fly to the US because she didn't have a passport.

Kenyon, 21, had "never imagined" she would win the Swisse/Qantas promotional holiday, or even be chosen to perform on The Ellen Show when she turned up to the live cross at Sydney's Opera House with friend Carly Heading yesterday.

The pals had planned to join the masses who answered a callout by DeGeneres to local fans to have their passports ready and bags packed ahead of a surprise giveaway - two tickets on the Qantas flight carrying Ellen's crew back to Los Angeles today.

When Kenyon and Heading impressed the TV host with their operatic version of Taylor Swift song, the Penrith girls were swept into a waiting car and rushed to Sydney airport where they informed airline officials Heading would have to call in another travel buddy.

Qantas told News Limited they made last-minute arrangements for Heading's sister Briony to take up the free ticket, but will also make plays for Kenyon to go once she secures a passport and can legally travel.

The spokesman said: "they just never imagined they would be chosen and were so disappointed we'll make arrangements for Jennifer to fly at another time."

Kenyon said she was "disappointed but only wanted to help (her friend) who desperately wanted to go" on Heading's 23rd birthday.

In other last-minute news, Ellen producer (known to viewers) Andy had to be rushed straight from the Opera House broadcast to a dentist for emergency treatment before he could join his colleagues on the flight home.

The footage filmed from Sydney today will broadcast on Channel 9 later this week.

More than 1000 fans thronged to the Opera House for the chance to be whisked away by Qantas on a flight to Hollywood, with DeGeneres' crew as chaperones on their return journey from a scouting mission ahead of her March visit.

Taking up the musical theme, the lucky contestants chosen were tasked with singing their operatic plea, with Ellen so impressed she gave away two double tickets instead of the planned one.

Birthday girl, Carly Heading and pal Jennifer Kenyon from Penrith made the decision to try their luck late last night, and left stunned when the TV presenter chose them for their Taylor Swift-inspired song.

"We've only packed a few things in an overnight bag," Kenyon said. "We didn't seriously think we'd win."

Overwhelmed by the turnout and local support, DeGeneres also agreed to fly Forestville brothers Julian and Dailius Wilson to her show, at a later time, after their enthusiastic performance and signs, which included: "Ellen The Generous" and "Pick the brothers."

"You can't put a count on how many Ellens we've watched…we just love how kind and inspirational she is. The opera (challenge) threw us out a bit but we dealt with it okay. I think everyone did a good job and it was a pleasure to be a part of it," Dailius said.

Producers for the show confirmed DeGeneres and her Australian-born wife Portia will appear at "two to three" public events like today's challenge, while committed fans can try for a close-and-personal chance to meet her during intimate excursions like a harbour cruise, with competition details to be posted on the Twitter accounts of Ellen (@TheEllenShow), sponsor Swisse Wellness (@SwisseUSA) and Qantas (@QantasAirways).

The mood at the outside broadcast mirrored that of Oprah Winfrey's adventures to Australia two years ago, with excited fans and a Sunday Telegraph Down Under Dance flash mob drowning out the sounds of construction work nearby.

And the weather turned on a blue sky day for filming, with the Opera House a dazzling backdrop for what many tourism officials are hoping could reignite interest from US travellers.

In typical Ellen fashion, there was plenty of singing and dancing to pass the time until the winners were announced during a live cross about 10am.

"There was nobody here when I first got here (at 5pm yesterday),'' Christian Burke, 22, from Liverpool said. "I thought I was the only idiot, (however) some people started showing up about 10.30pm.''

Mr Burke rushed to the Opera House after a job interview, but if he's not lucky enough to win a ticket to LA he has a plan to introduce Ellen to some culture Down Under.

"I've started a Facebook page for an Aussie Backyard Barbecue for Ellen DeGeneres,'' he said. "If she won't give me tickets to her show she can at least come around for a barbecue.''

DeGeneres was set to go one better than former TV rival Oprah Winfrey's Australian adventure - by giveing the tickets to Australian fans.

"(Tuesday's) a big day, Australia. If you're near the Sydney Opera House you may wanna pack a bag and get your passport ready. Seriously," she teased her Twitter followers.

Upping the stakes, ahead of her first visit to the birth country of her wife, Portia De Rossi, DeGeneres teased her Twitter followers with the prize yesterday.

She urged local fans to bring their passports and luggage to a live cross with her producers from the Opera House.

About a dozen Ellen show crew flew into Melbourne on Saturday night, then on to Sydney on Sunday, after a day in Melbourne, to begin scouting for locations for  the host's Oz odyssey.

The producers and the show's "street reporter" Jeannie yesterday toured Circular Quay, took a Sydney BridgeClimb and enjoyed lunch at Cafe Sydney before settling on the upper level of the Opera House for the live cross.

The "surprise" will see two fans join the production crew on their flight home to Hollywood the same day, with co-sponsor Qantas helping to fast-track any visa requirements with the help of immigration officials.

DeGeneres later added last night on Twitter: "Before I go Down Under, someone in Sydney's gonna have a chance to come up over. I hope you're free tomorrow at 9:30am." Ellen tweeted.

The TV trek is part of the US market launch of Australian wellness company, Swisse, with global brand ambassador Nicole Kidman helping announce the special giveaway to studio guests during a taping earlier this month.

Each of the 400 audience members won holidays to Australia which they can choose to take at their leisure or when DeGeneres visits.

The popular presenter and her Melbourne-born actor wife Portia are expected in Australia from March 17, when DeGeneres says they will "do tape pieces and meet the fans and hang out."

NSW tourism officials are also hoping to capitalise on the opportunity to promote local destinations to the show's international audience.

Local fans keen to try their luck during the live cross are advised to be at the western boardwalk of the Opera House no later than 10am today.

Eleanor Harrison, 30, from Quakers Hill will be armed with a packed suitcase and her passport.

She said she was devoted to the show since becoming a stay-at-home mum.

"I love her. Her show makes me laugh and smile every day and it keeps me sane with three toddlers," Eleanor said.

"It would be life changing if I won, it would be amazing."

Getting into the spirit of things, Ellen fans did The Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph's Down Under Dance on top of one of the most iconic Aussie landmarks - the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Sydney BridgeClimb staff, clad in blonde wigs, and celebrity choreographer Adam Williams showed off the exclusive dance designed for boogie-loving Ellen for when she arrives in Australia.

Organised by the Sunday Telegraph and put together by choreographer to the stars Adam Williams, the dance includes moves that mimic boxing kangaroos and walking on hot sand at Bondi beach.

"We dived right in and did our best moves on top of The Bridge and it was so much fun. The wind was ideal for the Ellen hair," Williams said.

Manly Sea Life Sanctuary staff have been filmed doing the dance underwater while  TV host Kerri-Anne Kennerley turned out with a troupe of 150 young dancers and celebrities like Justice Crew to urge Ellen to do the Down Under Dance, especially created for her.

The episode featuring the Sydney cross is expected to air locally on Channel 9 and Foxtel tomorrow.
