A strange construction complex has been uncovered by Google Earth.

JUST what has been uncovered via Google Earth now?

Satellite images showing a strange construction complex in the middle of the Chinese desert have left the expert who discovered it baffled.

Former CIA analyst Allen Thomson spotted the series of roads and structures while looking for an orbital tracking site near Kashgar, southwest China, the UK's Daily Mail reported.

"I haven't the faintest clue what it might be," he said.

"But it's extensive, the structures are pretty big and funny-looking, and it went up in what I'd call an incredible hurry."

Google has uncovered a series of puzzling sights recently, including an 8km-long line of square with a bubbly appearance, and grid-like structures in the Gobi desert in 2011.

Zooming in, they seemed to be 40-metre grids of mounds or other rough structures arranged in a chess-board-like style.

There are a range of theories about the patterns from the belief they're "codes" for UFOs, to them being used to calibrate cameras in China's spy satellites.
