A CAR owned by missing Reynella woman Rachael Moritz has been linked by police to the shooting murder of Jason De Ieso in November.

In a statement just released, police said they believe Ms Moritz's Mazda sedan was used in the shooting murder of 33-year-old Mr De Ieso at his Pooraka workplace on November 21.

They say it was later found burnt out on Quigley Road, Kangarilla on the day of the murder.

"Police believe her Mazda sedan was used in the shooting murder. The car was reported stolen and police are confident that Ms Moritz was not present at the murder scene," the police statement says.

Ms Moritz's family has told adelaidenow the 20-year-old's current car is at her Reynella home. They say she previously owned a white Mazda that was stolen from Westfield Marion in November last year.

Mr De Ieso was shot dead when up to 10 men stormed his spraypainting workshop and fired shots from two guns. It was the apparent culmination of a series of violent incidents involving members and associates of the Finks and Hells Angels over preceding days.

Mr De Ieso was not a member of any outlaw motorcycle gang but is believed to have come into contact with bikies through his job.

Police have also received information that suggests that Ms Moritz, who has been missing since December 23, is currently interstate.

They have an unconfirmed report that Ms Moritz was at Adelaide Airport on the morning of Sunday, December 23, in the company of a middle-aged woman.

They are urging the CrimeStoppers caller who provided this information, and the woman who was supposedly with Ms Moritz at the airport, to contact police.

Missing Persons Units across the country have been advised to be on the lookout for the 20-year-old.

Despite her family saying they fear Ms Moritz is being held against her will, police say they have no information to suggest this is the case.

Ms Moritz was reported missing on December 30 by her mother.

Distraught family members of missing Adelaide woman Rachael Moritz believe she is being held against her will.

They say Ms Moritz, from Reynella, is at enormous risk and may have been forced to make a phone call on New Year's Day to say she was safe.

Police are investigating the report of a phone call made from a phone booth by the 20-year-old to her father, Paul Moritz, who had dropped her at a friend's house at Greenacres on December 23.

But Mr Moritz said he was unsure if the short call was from his daughter. He reported it to police for further investigation and other family members believe it may have been a hoax or a recorded message.

"A family member that has not been involved in the search for Rachael at all, claims a phone call was possibly made by Rachael saying she was fine," a statement from Ms Moritz's sister, Emmah, and mother Corrina Smith, released yesterday said.

"However, that family member isn't sure it was Rachael.

"Other family members are also unsure whether that phone call took place; the phone call was allegedly so short that we understand there was no opportunity for interaction which may mean that what was said was tape recorded.

"Nothing about the alleged phone call has been able to be confirmed as yet ... it does not warrant any announcement that it was Rachael and that she is in fact OK."

The call was so short it lead Corrina and Emmah to believe that if it was Rachael, she was under duress to make the call or it was pre-recorded. The details of the alleged call made it clear she was not her normal self, the family said.

"We believe that Rachael is still at enormous risk of harm," the family statement read.

The family has urged the more than 10,000 people now linked to the Facebook Missing Person Rachael Moritz page to keep up the search for her.

"A number of unconfirmed sightings have been passed on to us, many of these having similarities and people reporting these sightings saying they had high-level, multiple concerns about Rachael based on what they were seeing and hearing," Emmah said.

One possible sighting was at a supermarket on Flaxmill Rd, Morphett Vale, on December 27. The family understands police will view security footage from the store.

Anyone who has any further information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.sa.crimestoppers.com.au.
