IT was an act of defiant ownership: A toy car placed in a Melbourne unit's parking bay. Now, the symbolic stand is earning world-wide notoriety.
Originally posted at the passiveaggressivenotes.com website, the photographs have recently been discovered, and embraced, by the world's media - including the MailOnline.
Spotted by passer-by "Kate", who whipped out her mobile phone to record the scene in August 2011, the tatty little toddler-sized toy car held a note declaring active possession of the otherwise vacant parking space.
"DO NOT REMOVE," the note declared.
"This is the property of unit 1. We pay the rent for this carspace and shall therefore use it for whatever vehicle we want to."
Snapper Kate commented to passive-aggressive notes: "I imagine this person is quite popular with the neighbours."
The picture was simply attributed to Melbourne. No suburb was specified.

Do you know the owner? Do they still use this car?
