Kriss Kross rapper dies aged 34

CHRIS Kelly, of the 1990s rap duo Kris Kross, has died at the age of 34.

Kelly, with Chris Smith, shot to stardom in 1992 with the hit Jump. He died at an Atlanta hospital after being found unresponsive at his home, CNN reports.

Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office said Kelley was pronounced dead on Wednesday (Thursday AEST) at the south campus of the Atlanta Medical Centre.

Honey said authorities are unsure of Kelly's cause of death and that an autopsy has yet to be performed.

Kelly, known as Mac Daddy performed alongside Chris Smith, known as Daddy Mac, in the early and mid-90s. They are best remembered for the song Jump from their 1992 debut album, Totally Krossed Out.

The rappers, known for wearing their clothes backwards, were discovered at an Atlanta mall in 1991 by Jermaine Dupri, according to Billboard.com.
