FERDINAND Puentes didn't just survive a plane crash. He filmed it.
"As sirens and bells of aeroplane were going, it was quiet. Everyone knew what was going on," Puentes told local news organisation, KHON.
Puentes, 39, was one of nine passengers on board the Makani Kai Air Cessna when it lost engine power off the coast of Kalaupapa, Molokai in Hawaii and crashed into the Pacific Ocean last month.

His emotion is still raw - as he speaks of the crash that killed one of his fellow passengers.
"Seeing the water coming up real fast, the splash down when we hit the water," Puentes told KHON.
"It just bit into me like am I dreaming.
"You could have died. There's so much variations that could have happened for the worse," he said.
Puentes said he was wearing "steel-toed boots, heavy work jeans, and long sleeve shirt. It was hard and exhausting to swim with all that."

As the plane went down, and the cabin filled with water, Puentes filmed the action with his GoPro camera.
The footage shows Puentes and his fellow passengers make their way out of the sinking plane and on to the wing where they escaped the wreckage. He then claims he snapped a selfie, before being rescued by the Coast Guard.

Hawaiian Health Department Director Loretta Fuddy, 65, died in the crash. In 2011, she had confirmed the authenticity of Barack Obama's birth certificate - to dismiss rumours he wasn't born outside the US.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the plane, which has been pulled from the water, to determine why the engine suddenly failed.
