THE Coalition is polling strongly in the WA Senate election re-run as counting continues.
According to the Australian Electoral Commission's website, almost 270,000 primary votes have been counted since polling closed at 6pm.
At 9pm, the Liberals were leading the primary vote count with 84,326, ahead of Labor (53,072).
They were followed by The Greens (39,398), Palmer United Party (33,259) and The Nationals (12,659).
Earlier tonight, the Australian Electoral Commission was alerted to a mishap in Maida Vale, where a ballot box was believed split open and the votes spilled onto the floor.
It's understood the ballots have been bundled into a plastic bag and will not be counted tonight.
