FORMER One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has leapt to Senator-elect Ricky Muir's defence after his first TV interview left the nation gobsmacked.
In an interview with Channel Seven tonight, Ms Hanson said Mr Muir could call her, indicating she was willing to help the Motoring Enthusiasts Party Senator-elect.
Mr Muir shocked Australians last night who tuned in to watch an interview he did for Channel Seven's Sunday Night program, where he struggled to answer basic questions from veteran journalist Mike Willessee.

Mr Muir, who will begin his six-year term as a senator in July, will, along with three Palmer United senators hold key votes in the upper house.
Ms Hanson, who also made her public debut with a confronting TV interview, where she stumbled over questions, said: "I'm telling the media, back off and leave him alone."
She also encouraged Mr Muir to ring her for help.

"Ricky, just pick up the phone, because I believe that not only myself but a lot of Australians are going to get behind you."
During his interview last night, Mr Muir could not define what the balance of power entails.
He failed to answer questions, and replied with underconfident answers like:"Sorry, can we start that question again" and "Sorry I've got myself in a fluster."
Senator-elect Ricky Muir has admitted to getting flustered when talking about an issue close to his heart.
At one point, he had to leave the room to get some air and water, before he continued the interview with Mr Willessee.
Mr Muir, who stood for the Motoring Enthusiasts Party in Victoria at last September's federal election, won on a record-low primary vote of 0.51 per cent or 17,122 first preferences.
Clive Palmer also launched a spirited defence of the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party senator-elect after he was left flustered and unable to answer a series of questions in his first media interview.
The MP and Palmer United Party boss said veteran reporter Mike Willesee was a "d**khead" for the "hatchet job".
Mr Palmer, who also appeared in the report, complained Willesse was "biased" but said he would not complain to Channel Seven because in "the court of public opinion", Willesse was "a dickhead".
He wasn't ashamed of anything that aired because Mr Muir and his three PUP senators-elect — who were filmed on a trip to the US — weren't professional politicians.
"Ricky Muir hasn't been on TV before. He's a hardworking dad. What's wrong with that? He's there because people think he's more in contact with the real world," he said.
He said that was what set him apart.
Ms Hanson's willingness to help has also sparked a reaction from social media.
