Charlotte Willis from news.com.au talks to Candy and Ryan from 'House Rules' about their relationship and experience on the show.

ARE Adam and Lisa House Rules' answer to The Block's Steve and Chantelle?

That could be the case after the Victorian couple nailed three perfect 10s on the Channel 7 reality show tonight.

Adam Dovile and fiancée Lisa Lamond, from Bulleen, wowed judges Joe Snell and Wendy Moore as well as Townsville homeowners Maddi Carter and fiancé Lloyd Wright with their renovation of the kitchen and guest bedroom.

Moore has gone so far as to label Adam and Lisa the 'dark horses' of the competition after their stunning result put them five points ahead of any of their competitors on the leaderboard.

The result is a boon for the couple. Adam is a carpenter and builder but fiancee Lisa is an HR manager with, like Chantelle on The Block, no renovation or design experience.

"Lisa and I haven't had the easiest run in the competition," Adam says. "We didn't start the way that we wanted to. It has been a hard road so getting those tens was unbelievable."

Adam and Lisa's rise on House Rules mirrors that of underdogs Steve and Chantelle on The Block: Fans v Faves.

Steve and Chantelle started slowly and ended up winning a whopping $736,000 when they sold their Albert Park apartment for $2.47 million.

All of the couples on House Rules struggled in the near 40 degree Queensland heat as they renovated Maddi and Lloyd's home.

Adam and Lisa faced the extra challenge of sleeping in the tent after getting low scores last week.

"I was absolutely blown away by your kitchen," Moore told the couple. "A beautiful, functional design. And then there's the guest room — stunning work. What a massive turnaround last week."

Lisa was shocked by the result.

"Adam and I have been waiting for this feeling for a very long time in this competition, and by gosh, it feels amazing."

Adam and Lisa had even more reason to smile when Tasmanian rivals Brooke and Grant copped a caning from the judges. Their hessian ceiling in the master bedroom was said to look like a 'camp site'.

South Australia's Bomber and Mel also got hit hard for not sticking to the 'laid back coastal' rule for their entry, dining room, laundry and front deck.

Adam and Lisa finished with 30, Candy and Ryan 25, Carole and Russell 23, Brooke and Grant 19 and Bomber and Mel 18.

Brooke and Grant got a dose of karma when Adam and Lisa had to choose which team would be stuck in the tent this week.

The Victorians decided their Tassie rivals could camp out this week as teams renovate Bomber and Mel's home. That was a decision that clearly pleased some of the other teams as well.

"The karma bus has just come and it has parked in Tassie's front lawn," Ryan laughed. "All aboard."
