ELIMINATED MasterChef Australia contestant Amy Shields is so desperate to have a baby that she'll resume expensive IVF treatments immediately, despite her husband just losing his job.

The 37-year-old budding cook was forced to put her attempts to fall pregnant on hold while taking part in the Network Ten reality show.

Now she's back home in Perth, Amy is keen to continue IVF immediately.

"It's very expensive though and my husband was only recently made redundant from his job as a chartered accountant, so we're both not working," she said.

Amy was eliminated from the competition tonight after failing to impress the judges and special guest Heston Blumenthal with her culinary deception dish.

Her blue cheese cheesecake disguised as a fruit platter was "a good idea in theory, but unsuccessful in execution," a crushed Amy explained.

But her departure was bittersweet. Heading home meant she could try again to conceive and phoning her doctor to schedule an appointment was one of the first things she did.

It has been a long and painful road from her gynaecological cancer diagnosis 10 years ago. She's now in remission but has struggled with fertility issues.

"Now that I'm home we'll keep trying with IVF," she said.

Amy lost her job in the same week she was asked to take part in MasterChef. It was only days after she and Craig found out their last round of IVF had been unsuccessful.

"It's tough emotionally, mentally and financially, but we'll persevere and it'll happen. Having a baby is our priority," she said.

In the meantime, Amy is taking her new-found public profile and running with it, planning to launch a catering business in coming months.

While she describes her elimination from MasterChef as "bitterly disappointing and heartbreaking", she had prepared herself to leave.

"In the lead up, I thought a lot about how I'd feel and react to being eliminated. Once I got to the top 10, the fact I'd made it was incredible. Every day from there on in was a bonus.

"I felt at peace with it."

A highlight of her time in the competition was the bond she formed with other contestants, including Brent Owens and Emelia Jackson.

Amy is quick to hose down rumours of a romance between her mates, who she insists have a "purely Platonic relationship".

"Brent has a beautiful girlfriend whom he absolutely adores and is very committed to," Amy laughed.

"They're two of my closest friends from the house so I can guarantee there's nothing romantic going on. That's the inside scoop."

She also dismissed talk of bullying from former finalist Tash Shan, who claimed she was marginalised and isolated by some in the MasterChef house.

"I can't speak for Tash but it's unfortunate she felt that her experience was like that. Everyone was incredibly supportive of each other and we were all very close."
