HE was clearly extremely passionate.

When a seemingly teenage girl agreed to have sex with him, 40-year-old Christopher Lanning could hardly wait.

The fact that he lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and the teenage girl lived in Longwood, Florida — 2000kms apart, could not stop his sick libido.

Lanning, who is 1.4 metres tall, drove for 18 hours non-stop, halfway across America, urinating in a bottle, in a frenzied state of passion for the 14-year-old girl, who he thought was a pupil at Lyman High School in Longwood.

. His ardour was dampened when the girl he was meeting was an undercover police officer who was part of a sting operation that had begun last month.

The smell from inside the man's car shocked police officers who arrested Lanning at a petrol station, next to the school, yesterday.

"It was pretty bad,'' Longwood Police Department spokesman Kevin Tuck told the Orlando Sentinel.

Lanning, who had made contact with the undercover police officers, was charged with a range of offences including travelling to meet a child for sex and transmitting obscene material to a minor.

Tuck said their investigation began through a seemingly innocent activity, online chatting.

"Note to parents that there are predators out there," Tuck said.

"The internet is dangerous, so mum's dad's take a look at what your kids are looking at online and their Facebook. Take a look at that and make sure they're safe."

A Seminole County judge set Lanning's bond at $15,300. He was also ordered not to use the computer or the internet.

He will be arraigned on May 20.

"I made a major mistake in judgment," Lanning told the judge.

Lanning's effort well and truly beats that of former astronaut Lisa Nowak who drove 1500 kilometres wearing an adult nappy to confront a love rival.
