MILEY Cyrus says she her "heart has never been so broken" after the death of her beloved Yorkshire terrier, Lila.

The 20-year-old broke the sad news on Twitter, after the two-year-old dog was taken to the vet with a mystery ailment.

"Can't think of one good reason to get out of bed today...," the star wrote on Tuesday afternoon.

"For everyone asking... I have never been so hurt in my life.

"My heart has never been so broken..... Lila my sweet baby girl has passed away," she added.

Miley is still mother to her other four dogs, Ziggy, Floyd, Happy, and Mary Jane and helps with her sister's two pups, Yorkie and Penny Lane.

Earlier in the week, Kim Kardashian also expressed her grief after losing a pet.

The 32-year-old's four-month old cat passed away after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

"It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away," Kardashian wrote on her official blog. "My heart is completely broken."
