AS a victim of sexual abuse, actress AnnaLynne McCord wants to end stigmas linked to women who wear "sexy dresses", saying they don't deserve to be raped.

The actress, who stars in the modern version of 90210 in the US, told E! News she is moving on from being physically and sexually abused in the past.

McCord, 26, told the entertainment website of how she is empowering herself and others, by spreading the word that a woman can be herself, and dress in a sexy way, without asking for someone to attack them.

"It's about coming back and having the right to wear a sexy dress with side boob. I have the right to get piss drunk. I don't even drink, but it's my choice if I want to or not. I have the right to party, to dance on the rooftops, and not be violated and not to be raped. That is the stigma I want to end," she told E! Online.

"Someone who has experienced trauma — our brains do not function in the same way someone else who has never experienced trauma does," she said.

"That is why survivors find each other. Together we can find our healing, with one voice we become a collective voice, and this is not about my story, this is about our story."

She recalled how she also questioned when she was attacked, if she may have instigated the assault.

"Because of my power trips, I didn't think anything could be my fault, but the truth for me, to my private self, was yes, absolutely [it was my fault]," she explained.

"I questioned whether or not I gave him the wrong idea. I'm a very sexual person, I wear sexy clothes."

McCord has previously revealed she felt "suicidal" after being raped as a child.

At the Somaly Mam Foundation Gala last year, she told the audience:

"I was raped. I was abused as a child. This is so important to me. I was suicidal, I cut my arms up. I wanted to die. I had a bottle of pills in a hotel and I was ready to end it all.

"But something, I don't know what, led me to Somaly Mam."

McCord, who previously romanced Twilight star Kellan Lutz, has been dating 43-year-old former Prison Break star Dominic Purcell.
