COPPER may be out, but c-bombs are in on Channel 9's The Block Glasshouse, with the final weeks of this year's series erupting in an expletive-ridden feud between contestant Deanne Jolly and designer judge, Shaynna Blaze.

Tensions over the judging of next week's ensuite challenge sees a simmering dispute between Jolly, her former Aussie Rules husband Darren Jolly and Blaze over perceived critique inconsistencies explode in a vicious war of words.

While other couples, including Campbelltown renovation novices Chris and Jenna and brothers, Shannon and Simon, all find fault with the Selling Houses Australia co-host tonight, it is Deanne who loses control and launches into Blaze next Sunday.

The straight-shooting mother of two is filmed saying of Blaze: "She's a bogan from (Melbourne suburb) Wantirna who's got no f*@#ing idea and I will out style you any day."

During the tirade which will go to air, Deanne makes veiled threats to the TV personality: "She will want to keep away from me at the wrap party if she shows up."

A production source confirmed she was also overheard using the c-bomb but any footage would never be broadcast.

A more composed Deanne said the judges "have been incredibly generous with us the whole series. We've had nothing less than an eight and I think our average score is a nine."

She said: "In the context of that day, not having slept for 36 hours ...you get tired and say things perhaps you shouldn't in those circumstances. It happens every season, that's the nature of The Block and Shaynna understands that and knows I have nothing but respect for her."

Given the right of reply, Blaze said: "It's no surprise to hear such comments when contestants lose, but it's interesting that they don't have these opinions when they win. I don't have a problem with any of the contestants. Everything needs to be seen in perspective."

The "context" of the outburst was over Blaze apparently marking the Jollys down by a crucial half point for a lack of storage in the bathroom of their master bedroom.

Deanne argued all five couples had sourced vanities from the same plumbing supplier, which all featured two drawers.

"The only team that had any more storage was Max and Karstan, who had a medicine cabinet in their mirror but they weren't in the running that week. We felt it wasn't consistent and when you haven't slept for 36 hours and put everything into it, those things are frustrating."

She said her portrayal as this year's "villain" was part of the show's "formula."

"The assertive women on the show, who stand up and speak up get crucified a little bit and I knew that would happen."

Going into the series, she had tried to curb her potty mouth but admitted: "There's no doubt that I dropped a few swear words on that show and I tried not to but it's just the nature of it". Sometimes it's the only thing that makes you feel better. You've got to get it out."

Adding to the stress this year's Block contestants were under - meeting the physical demands of the challenges - they were also beset by family tragedies and deaths kept from the cameras.

While the audience were kept across the medical emergency which saw Darren and Deanne leave the show to rush to their five-year-old daughter Lily's hospital bedside, other couples were hiding the pain in their private lives.

Chris and Jenna grieved the loss of his grandfather during filming of this week's episodes, while Karstan received news two of his mates had died in a mining accident.

Michael and Carlene's son also fell ill, but the couple relied on close family to care for him.

Deanne said: "Everyone had challenges, it's been hard. It's three months and a lot can happen."
